BIOMASS ALMOST FINISHED!!

Beginning late in the afternoon of February 2, 2010, the Edwards-Knox Central School is heating with clean, inexpensive Biomass fuel (wood chips).  Edwards-Knox is leading the way in being more financially responsible and environmentally friendly in the way we heat our large buildings.

We are saving an average of $600+ per day during these cold months. We burn approximately 390 gallons of fuel oil per day during the 5-6 winter months at a cost of $2.50/gallon. Currently we are burning about 8 tons of chips at a cost of $38/ton.

The windmill is up and ready to begin producing energy. However, solar panels need to be placed so wiring can be finalized and begin producing our own power.

We are in the process of setting up tours of the facility for the students & community.
