Some Key Review Concepts

Key Concepts

Habitat Selection

Predation and nature of the environment can influence an organism's selection of habitat.

Behaviors

Behaviors may be innate or learned. Many behaviors have both genetic and learned components.

Lab Design

Observe the Mating Behavior of the Drosophila melanogaster includes six steps. (1) Orientation, (2) Male Song, (3) Following, (4) Male Licking, (5) Copulation, (6) Rejection.

During the lab, you will also observe Pillbug Behaviors.

Analysis of Results

You need to set a control in order to be sure that certain factors are influencing behavior.  Also be sure to watch more than one individual's behavior.
