HOW GRADES ARE DETERMINED IN 1ST GRADE

1st Quarter: First graders are not given a grade on their report card the first quarter due to reviewing kindergarten skills. Instead there will be a short paragraph describing your child's progress.

2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarters: A percentile average (out of 100) based on test scores will be recorded in phonics, spelling and math. The reading comprehension grade will be based on the instructional reading level determined by a running record & comprehension rubric. The writing grade will be the average grade based on the writing rubric.

Below 70% is considered failing.
