1. Expectations of Students:                                                                                       Mr. Rader

Behavioral:       I expect a lot of you – I know you’re not just a child. Remember that you are responsible for your learning.

Social:             I expect students to treat me and their peers with respect.

            Academics:       From another century:

Good, better, best

Never let it rest

Until your good is better

And your better best.

2. Individual Goals:                    [to raise student academic/social achievement]

My individual goals include making material and my presentations more challenging – stimulating higher-level thinking and responses.

3. Grading Procedures:             [including make-up policy]

Quizzes, based on smaller amounts of material, will be weighted a factor of '1'.
Tests, based on larger blocks of material, will be given a weight of '2' - a chapter test; or '3' - a unit test.
Homework will be assigned credit on a 'completion' basis; full effort will count as '100', and weighted as a quiz.

The grading of projects will be explained when the project is assigned.

In keeping with our policy of limited make-up opportunities, one test may be retaken per marking period, provided the following conditions are met:

a) requests for each re-take are submitted in writing, bearing a parent's signature, and declaring their knowledge of the student's unsatisfactory grade.

b) students will attend a scheduled review session for each test re-taken.

c) grade received on a re-taken exam will be averaged together with original score.

As your child’s teacher, I reserve the right to change this or any policy, with notice given to students.

4. Classroom Policies:

A.        Under normal circumstances you will have two days after an absence to make up missing quizzes or exams. Notes pertaining to missing work are usually available from a classmate. It is not my responsibility to get copies of notes for you!

B.         I reserve the right to give unannounced "pop" quizzes at any time.

C.        I reserve the right at the time of any evaluation to inspect your notebooks for evaluation. I may grade some or all of the notebooks at any time.

D.        I expect all students to participate in all laboratory activities.

E.         At all times, I expect your work to be your own.

F.         I rarely let students go to lockers, bathrooms, etc. -- so save us both the bother and don't ask. You can't learn if you're not here. The frequent need to go to the restroom usually indicates a medical problem that should be addressed.

5. Classroom Rules:

A) Follow my directions.

B) Treat others as you would like to be treated.

C) I expect you to bring required texts and materials to any class or lab.

D) Never settle for less than your best. You are expected to participate fully in all activities.
