Every day, the dedicated staff of the Edwards-Knox Transportation Department ensures the safe and efficient transport of approximately 480 students. Our 15 school buses travel over 230,000 miles each year, taking students to and from school, field trips and athletic competitions.
Bus Change Procedures
All bus changes must be communicated in writing before 1:30 p.m. Emails are preferred, but written notes and telephone calls are also accepted. Notes received after 1:30 p.m. may not be seen, and students will be dropped off at their normal location if no prior notification is received.
Please include the following information in your communication:
- Student’s full name (first and last)
- Drop-off location (including address)
- Applicable dates
- Date of request
- Your signature (written notes)
Please email or call the Bus Garage at (315) 562-8133 for all bus change requests.
If no one is home at the designated drop-off location, the child will be returned to school, and it is the family’s responsibility to pick up the child. For safety reasons, drivers are instructed not to leave young children unsupervised.
Pick-up
A child is expected to be waiting at the pick-up stop for the bus upon arrival. In the case of inclement weather, students may wait under cover with their coats, shoes and backpacks on. When the door to the bus opens, the student(s) should be visibly walking to the bus. The bus cannot wait at each stop for multiple siblings to walk individually to the bus.
Drop-off
Pre-K–4 students will only be dropped off at home when the driver makes visual contact with a responsible individual. Students in grades 5–12 will be dropped off without visual contact. To alter these drop-off guidelines, the parent/guardian needs to provide the office with written notification with specific details.

Bus Safety
- Stay away from the Danger Zones around the bus.
- If you drop something near the bus, don’t pick it up. The driver may not see you. Tell the driver & follow their instructions.
- Remember that motorists don’t always stop for the school bus. Use extreme caution when getting on or off of the bus.
