Donation of 50 life jackets bolsters pool safety at Edwards-Knox

Edwards-Knox Central School District is making a splash for water safety, thanks to a recent donation of 50 new life jackets.

In May, the district received the life jackets from the Note and Float Life Jacket Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to drowning prevention. The donation ensures that the district’s year-round swimming programs are safer than ever for both students and the wider community.

The new life jackets, which come in sizes ranging from infant to adult, are now a regular part of many district programs. They are used for pre-K and kindergarten classes, which introduce students to the pool, and are available for community members who attend aqua jogging and Sunday community swim.

This partnership with the Note and Float Life Jacket Fund comes as the district prepares for another great school year of aquatic offerings. Beyond introductory programs, students in grades 1-6 receive formal swimming lessons, and select high school students learn water survival skills. The district also hosts American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim lessons during its summer enrichment program and offers a lifeguarding class for students.

A complete pool schedule, including weekly lap swim, aqua jogging, and the AquaFit class, is available on the District calendar.
