The Edwards-Knox Central School District recently earned recognition from the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) for achieving a 100% passing rate on its school bus and vehicle inspections for the 2024-25 school year.

This accomplishment is attributed to the diligent work of longtime Bus Mechanic Todd Lambert.

Lambert, who has dedicated nearly 19 years to the Edwards-Knox district, consistently emphasizes the importance of student safety.

“We’re hauling precious cargo,” he said. “It is important to make sure that our buses are safe to keep our children safe.”

With a career spanning nearly 40 years, Lambert brings a wealth of experience working on a diverse range of vehicles, from tractor-trailers to minivans.

The NYSDOT conducts regular safety inspections at all public school districts annually, with each district-owned vehicle requiring inspection at least every six months.

This isn’t the first time Edwards-Knox’s bus fleet has achieved a perfect score.

Under Lambert’s care, the district’s fleet has received a perfect 100% pass rate 12 times. This stands significantly above the state average of 92%.

Lambert credits this consistent success to a proactive approach.

“The key is preventable maintenance,” he said.

“The district’s perfect safety inspection record is a testament to Todd’s professionalism and exceptional work,” said Transportation Supervisor Shawn DeLorme. “Not only does he set the standard for bus maintenance, but also for ensuring our students have safe and reliable transportation to and from school every day.”
