Edwards-Knox voters approve $18.66 million budget, elect one board member

On May 20, Edwards-Knox Central School District voters approved the district’s $18.66 million 2025-26 budget proposal, elected one board of education member, approved the purchase and finance of two diesel school buses and approved the establishment of a capital reserve fund. The budget proposition passed 126 to 39.

Propositions

  • A $18,663,353 budget for the 2025-26 school year that increases spending 4.56% ($813,626) and carries a tax levy increase of 2.98%: 126 yes; 39 no
  • Purchasing and financing of two new diesel school buses at a total cost not to exceed $395,355: 144 yes; 21 no
  • Establishing a new 10-year capital reserve fund in an amount not to exceed $3,000,000: 125 yes; 38 no

Board of Education election

Two candidates sought election to one open board of education seat.

The term will last five years, beginning July 1, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2030:

  • Toni LaPoint: 65 votes
  • Jennifer Benson-Baxter (incumbent): 100 votes (winner)
