Foundation Aid Feedback
Posted by Zachary Ribert on 6/27/2024Share your input on the Foundation Aid formula for state education funding!
A study is being done by the Rockefeller Institute of Government to assess the State’s Foundation Aid education funding formula and discuss potential changes to how the formula works.
As part of the Foundation Aid Study, the Rockefeller Institute wants to hear from education stakeholders across New York State, including students, their parents and families, teachers, school staff and administrators.
You can provide feedback and input on the Foundation Aid formula in two ways:
- You can submit written comments on the Rockefeller Institute website.
- You can register to speak at one of five public hearings happening this July and August in New York City, Buffalo, Farmingdale, Laurens, and Guilderland.
For more information on the Foundation Aid formula, the Study, how you can provide written feedback, and the upcoming public hearings, please visit https://www.rockinst.org/foundation-aid-study/!

Student Dismissal Changes Effective 12/4/2023
Posted by Brandi Graham on 11/30/2023Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
The Edwards-Knox Central School District prioritizes the health and safety of our students by continually evaluating our safety procedures and protocols. We take great pride in ensuring all safety measures are followed each school year. We recently reviewed our dismissal procedures and have established a safer, more efficient process for students that are picked up from school at dismissal time.
Beginning on Monday, December 4th, students that are being picked up at dismissal time will need to be picked up from the rear parking lot. All parents/guardians/authorized persons should drive their vehicle to the rear parking lot. Deputy Montroy and/or assigned school officials will direct you to line up along the sidewalk at the beginning of the High School Agricultural Entrance and will continue along the sidewalk to the Cougar Entrance. Mrs. Truesdell, our Attendance Clerk will begin signing out students at 2:35 p.m. When students have been successfully signed out and are securely inside the vehicle, vehicles are permitted to cautiously pull out of line and proceed to exit the parking lot. You will not need to leave your vehicle for any reason.
As a reminder, please have any bus passes or pick up passes submitted to the Main Office by 1:30 p.m. Any bus passes or notes that come in after 1:30 p.m. may not be accommodated.
Beginning December 4th, 2023:
- Student pick up will begin in the rear parking lot of the school.
- Vehicle line up can begin at 2:30 p.m. from the High School Agricultural Entrance sidewalk and continue along the sidewalk to the Cougar entrance. (Please do not leave your vehicle. Your child(ren) will be dismissed to your vehicle).
- Mrs. Truesdell will begin signing students out at 2:35 pm.
- Elementary students (Pre-K-6th) will be released between 2:40 p.m.- 2:50 p.m.
- High School Students (7th-12th) will be released at 2:50 p.m.
- Vehicles may leave the lineup after students have been signed out and are securely in the vehicle.
There will be no change to early student pick up dismissals in the Main Office prior to 2:30 pm.
Your patience is greatly appreciated while we transition to this new student pick up dismissal procedure. Deputy Montroy and/or school officials will assist with the new traffic pattern as we implement this new procedure.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at any time.
Thank you,
Erin E. Woods

Transportation Staff
Posted by Brandi Graham on 2/1/2023Our E-K School District is very thankful for the volunteer community support and dedication of our Transportation Staff during a recent vehicle accident. With empty school buses returning to school on Tuesday afternoon, our drivers and monitors that are certified First Responders and members of Local Fire Departments quickly took action by being the first on the scene of an accident. Empty buses were used as road blocks and basic first aid was performed until local Rescue and Law Enforcement arrived. We sincerely thank all of our Transportation Staff for their quick and selfless actions and feel very fortunate to have so many volunteer emergency service employees within our E-K family! -
Edwards-Knox community members approve two capital project proposals
