Edwards-Knox voters approve $16.9 million budget, elect four board members

On May 16, Edwards-Knox Central School District voters approved the district’s $16.9 million 2023-24 budget proposal, elected four board of education members and approved the purchase of two school buses. The budget proposition passed 114 to 22.

District-related propositions

  • A $16,979,842 budget for the 2023-24 school year that increases spending 0.54% ($90,660) and carries a tax levy increase of 1.00%: 114 yes; 22 no
  • Purchasing two new school buses at a total cost not to exceed $327,835: 123 yes; 14 no

Board of Education election

Four candidates sought election to four open board of education seats.

Two terms will last five years, beginning July 1, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2028:

  • Heidi Stalker: 114 votes
  • Jamie Gibson: 110 votes

One term will last two years, beginning July 1, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2025:

  • Jennifer Benson-Baxter: 107 votes

One term will last for approximately one year, beginning May 17, 2023, and expiring June 30, 2024:

  • John “Jack” Zeh: 97 votes
