The Edwards-Knox Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that the search for a new superintendent is over, as board members have extended an offer to Ms. Jessica Sullivan. Sullivan has accepted the position, and contract negotiations are currently underway.

“We are thrilled to have Jessica joining the Edwards-Knox community,” said Board of Education President Penny Allen. “She will be a tremendous asset to our district and an outstanding academic leader as we continue working to meet the needs of all Edwards-Knox students.”
Sullivan currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at the Gouverneur Central School District. She earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from St. Lawrence University, where she also obtained her School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications. In addition, she holds a Master of Science in Teaching from the State University of New York at Potsdam.
The Board of Education held initial interviews in mid-July, and narrowed the search to two final candidates at the end of July. Both finalists were then interviewed by stakeholders and participated in a community forum on August 10.
The board carefully reviewed all stakeholder feedback, conducted reference checks and evaluated each candidate’s qualifications. Stakeholder input played a critical role in guiding the board’s final decision.
Sullivan is expected to begin her tenure as superintendent in September, at which time current superintendent Erin Woods will transition to a new role as Deputy Superintendent until she retires. Woods’ official retirement date is Monday, January 11, 2027.
BOCES District Superintendent Darin Saiff served as a consultant to the Board of Education throughout the superintendent search process, assisting with the recruitment, screening and evaluation of candidates. This service is provided to component school districts by the Office of the District Superintendent at the direction of the New York State Education Commissioner.
