Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Willman

I'm Kristen Willman, the general music/chorus teacher here at E-K! I graduated from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam with my Bachalor's in 2017 and my Master's in 2018. Both of my degrees are in K-12 Music Eduacation with a concentration in Choral Studies. It is my goal to teach students about the importance of music and to help them develop a deeper appreciation for music. My philosophy is to build student's respect and appreciation of music by integrating music they listen to in their daily lives into my classroom. Introducting new music to students is also a very important part of my job. Understanding technical aspects of new and older music can help students appreciate it's meaning in a way they might not have realized. Music can help us grow as performers, listeners and well rounded individuals. It can create a world of compassionate, creative and caring citizens.

I'm from Little Falls, NY and I moved up to Potsdam for school in 2013. During my time in school I was lucky to have many wonderful musical experiences such as performing with Crane Chorus at Carnegie Hall in NYC.  I enjoy listening to all sorts of music including hip-hop, blues, jazz, classic rock and much more. My two main instruments are voice and piano and I am always trying to improve on both. Music is my passion and I feel so lucky to be able to share that passion with the students here at E-K!
