Written Work:
Students will focus on the expository writing that is required for the NYS Common Core regents test. This form of writing is explaining how an author uses literary devices to develop the passage(s). This is graded on a 0-4 scaled rubric from NYS.
Students will also focus on the argumentative essay which is required for the NYS Common Core regents test. This form of writing requires students to use three pieces of writing to form an argument. This essay requires a strong thesis statement that has a counterclaim embedded within it as well as supporting details from the texts while making insightful connections that support the claim. This is based on a 0-6 scaled rubric from NYS.
