Please remember that you must pass the English Regents (COMMON CORE)  for graduation credit. The English Regents IS NOT part of your class average; it is a separate grade. You will be required to take a final exam which is 20% of your overall average.

    Quizzes/Speeches/Tests 50%
    Research Papers/Essays 50%
Please understand that COMP. 101 and COMP 102 are TWO separate classes.  COMP 101 is 20 weeks in duration and COMP. 102 is an additional 20 weeks in duration.  Each class costs $120 at this time (Paul Smith's price).  To fulfill high school graduation credit, students must pass both classes with a minimum grade of a 65. These grades count toward a student's final GPA and class rank for graduation.
Payments are arranged through Paul Smith's College. IF you have questions regarding payment plans and/or payment due dates, please contact the financial aid office at Paul Smiths or call directly at (518) 327-6862.
Edwards-Knox provides all of the texts needed for these classes.

    Absence Policy FOR ALL STUDENTS:
Students are not to miss more than 28 days of class as according to the student handbook.
Students have a monthly assignment calendar available online and in hard copy format.  Students are responsible for all assignments even if they are absent.
I expect my students to call me (562-8131 ext. 25404) or email me vparo@ekcsk12.org if they are out of school and an assignment is due that day. Students may leave a message on my voicemail or leave a message with a member of the clerical staff. We can make arrangements for the assignment to be emailed, or other arrangements, if necessary.

If the student does not contact me when he/she is absent, it will be counted as a zero in the gradebook. The zero will remain in the gradebook.
If a student owes me work; has contacted me and has a legal excuse, he/she may receive an incomplete on the progress report/report card until the work is done, if there is an extensive, excused absence. The grade will be added into the gradebook as long as the deadline is met.
If the student is on the athletic monitoring system, he/she may receive a U until the work is made up by the deadline.
Please see the handbook as to what justifies as a legal excuse.
